Overview

Inside The Book

SOME THINGS HAPPEN INSIDIOUSLY. It felt almost innocuous, but one day I woke up and came to a blinding realisation that my life as I knew it wasn’t working out so well for me. Just like that it thrust itself into my consciousness. I was running counterintuitive programmes in my mind and ineffective patterns in my life. I was overthinking things, investing in plans and projects which appeared productive but were not purposeful. And from nowhere, like the COVID-19 virus, this situation brought me to the grinding point of no return.

The pandemic helped us to step out of a fake sense of security and stability into freedom. It is about finances, but also just a general realization that we only have today. And what we need is inside us, not in massive corporations, governments, relationships, or economic bailouts. We can start over, from nothing, at any age, and make the end of the race count. If you possess the ability to unlearn and the humility to seek help, you’re in the league of leaders in this century and perfectly positioned to flourish. Be assured that it is going to demand action.

Great intentions and good vibrations are not enough to transmute thoughts into things. I am now deliberate about the actions I need to take, and where to place my energy for maximum results. It took tragedy for me to gather the guts to be Me - to follow my passion. It took me turning 50 and having my whole life turned upside down to find myself.

This shouldn't be so. Everybody has a passion, something that makes you authentic.

Find your Brilliance. Serve it up to the World. If, and when you do, the world will reward you richly and not just in money but in satisfaction, in appreciation, in the priceless peace of knowing you have done exactly what you were put here to do.

I am daring to go into a new line of work. At the age of 50, I no longer work for money. I work around my passion and touch people's lives. I feel so blessed and thrilled to be a part of countless lives where my purpose guides me. More so alongside the co-authors in this book, most of whom have been dear friends for many years, because here we are given all of this opportunity to work together. We are connected through the awakening of individual and collective purpose to contribute to the transformation of Africa. So, I'm extremely passionate; I have a new lease on life and showing up as a memory of my old self is not even an option. I am so very grateful to have this opportunity at this point in this lifetime to be Me.

In The Guts To Be Me, You Will Learn

I was running counterintuitive programmes in my mind and ineffective patterns in my life. I was overthinking things, investing in plans and projects which seemed productive but were not purposeful. And from nowhere, like the COVID-19 virus, this situation brought me to the grinding point of no return. My life as I knew it was on Lockdown.

Obsolete ideas and knowledge will produce obsolete solutions. I have never enjoyed my work as much as I do now, and I encourage anyone who feels stuck and lost post-COVID to step boldly and steadfastly into the new world. Fortune favours the fearless and it’s a great time to be alive in Africa.

One of the worst misdirected strategies may well be school. From the first time we are packed off to kindergarten our parents and their peers wished, willed, and sacrificed for us to have formal education. Preferably academic. Preferably from a reputable institution. Preferably with many more letters behind your name than when you went in. And so many excel, but many are also frustrated. It’s a case of square pegs and round holes mostly.

I have finally moved into my dream career and shut down the volume of limiting voices in my head: Why would anyone listen to me? I need to ‘earn the right to be heard’…on and on they went, old tracks of poor-quality indoctrination on repeat. These were the thoughts that kept me trapped – until COVID-19 came around and shook me up.

Should you decide that you want to change your life it's interesting that you will discover that in your circle there is somebody who can assist. Or who has a contact for you. Especially after COVID-19, the world has really become flat and even smaller.

Perhaps the question is: what will it take for more women to step into their God-given power? We need to give ourselves permission to get on with the whole business of purpose. We are often battling and expending everything to get up but still subscribing to someone else’s agenda or a past that holds us hostage.

We are socialised to be humble, to shrink small, morphing ourselves into likeable, malleable citizens. We are indoctrinated to graciously take the back seat; we learn to do and accept less than our best. It’s a new day, and we must own our programming, our potential and our progress.

We are connected through the awakening of individual and collective purpose to contribute to the transformation of Africa. So, I'm extremely passionate; I have a new lease on life and showing up as a memory of my old self is not even an option. I am so very grateful to have this opportunity at this point in this lifetime to be Me. Besides, all things being equal, who else would I be?
